Why Choose Me For Your Data Recovery?

About Data Recovery

My name is Gary Brouwer.

I am a Graduate and Trade Qualified in Electronics , PC Servicing and Computer Hardware Engineering.(Distinctions)

You can call me for a free, no obligation evaluation of your data recovery problem. I have saved two clients $3000 by performing an appropriate data recovery.

This is an Australian business based in Sydney. I do not have employees or a shop front. I am not a franchise or a job booking agency. This keeps my costs low, the service personal and confidential. I am the only person with access to your data. Non Disclosure Forms gladly signed on request.

I have built, maintained and recovered data from computers for over 20 years. Remember you only pay me if I am successful in getting your data back. If I cannot recover enough of your data or the data is corrupt and useless you do not pay regardless of how much time I have spent. You will be the judge of this BEFORE you pay me. (This may not apply to some RAID setups or unusual devices)

Understanding The Different Levels Of Data Recovery:

Understanding Data Recovery
  1. Your computer or laptop is simply broken.
This may not be data recovery at all. You just need your data transferred ASAP. This should not cost more than $154 depending on the time taken.
Example: Laptop is dead but hard drive is okay.
  2. There is soft or logical corruption on the hard drive.
This is basic data recovery. For safety I always make a copy of your drive and then work only on this copy to rebuild the raw data into a usable file system using specialised software or manual methods if necessary. The cost is usually $295 with a No Recovery No Charge Guarantee. Example:Computer gives "non system disk" error or will not boot up.
  3. The hard drive is physically failing.
This is where I need to use specialised hardware in order to extract all or most of the data from the drive. The sick drive is then switched off and the copy is used to rebuild the file system. The cost is usually between $395 - $795 with a No Recovery No Charge Guarantee.
Example: External Maxtor One Touch becomes noisy and stops working.
  4. The hard drive has serious electronic failure. There are a number of non-destructive pathways to prepare the drive for the extraction of data. If I or you have identical drive it can be useful. The cost is usually between $1000 - $1800. Your warranty is not usually affected.
  5. The hard drive has serious problems inside the chamber. This is the point at which it can become expensive. Clients appreciate that all the low cost options have been explored before going down the cleanroom pathway. Only to be considered if all else has failed. Lets try the lower cost options first.

Case Studies Taken Directly From My Invoices

ImageCase Study #1
Client took her laptop to the local computer shop and was told it was not worth repairing and that 10 years of accounting data was gone! It was true that the laptop and the drive were beyond repair but ALL the crucial accounting data was however recoverable. She was very happy to pay the $300 for the data recovery.

ImageCase Study #2
The server would not boot and gave a dreaded "No System Disk Error" The local computer shop pronounced that the hard disk was dead and the data was not recoverable. The owner had been through this before but this time gave me a call due to my "No Recovery No Charge Guarantee". The hard drive was corrupt but we were able to recover all the crucial data files. The data recovery charge was $300.

ImageCase Study #3
A client sent the hard drive interstate and received a quote for over $3000. Unable to afford this I was asked to at least have a look. Despite some pessimism on my part I was able to recover all the crucial data. The data recovery charge was $300. Maybe I was just lucky but this is not an isolated case. If you get a really high quote then let me quote you as well before you proceed.

What To Do If You Have Lost Data

ImageRULE #1.
STOP using the drive that contains your data or photos. Your data might not be lost. Anything you do may lead to further data loss. Get some expert advice.

ImageRULE #2
FOCUS ONLY on recovering the data off the drive. DO NOT try to fix anything else until your data has been safely recovered. There may only be a short window of opportunity.

ImageRULE #3
DO NOT PANIC - Resist the pressure for a quick fix. Data loss is stressful. Take the time to plot the best course of action appropriate to your situation.

Common Mistakes In Data Recovery

ImageMistake #1.
USING the wrong procedure at the wrong time. For example - using data recovery software on a drive that is physically failing.

ImageMistake #2.
ATTACHING the drive externally as a USB or internally and being unable to access the drive or the data. This does not mean your data cannot be recovered.

ImageMistake #3.
GIVING UP when your computer repair person cannot help you. I often get referred clients and have successfully recovered their data.

ImageMistake #4.
NOT KNOWING what level of data recovery is appropriate to your situation. I have saved two clients over $3000 by charging them for the correct data recovery procedure.

ImageMistake #5
DOWNLOADING data recovery software from the internet and then:-

A. Loading either the program or the saved data to the sick drive.
B. Not using the program properly and/or missing the data that is actually there.
C. Paying for the program and finding that the data is corrupt, wrong or unusable.
D. Seeing the file structure but not able to access the actual files.
